Teaching our children essential life skills not only serves them well in their formative years but also pave the way for their success as adults. Among the fundamental skills that every child should acquire are hygiene and organization. These skills not only contribute to a healthier and more organized lifestyle but also lay the foundation for responsible and self-sufficient individuals. Although, sometimes that teaching job can be hard, here we’ll give you practical tips and strategies to help you impart these crucial lessons effectively.
1. How to teach your kids the importance of flossing
- Print and cut a colorful hippo with a big mouth
- Cut a piece of paper the size of the hippo’s mouth that’s pink in the inside
- Glue cotton puds around the inside of the hippo’s mouth
- Roll pieces of napkin and put them in between the teeth
- Show them how to use the floss to remove the napkin pieces
2. An experiment to teach the importance of washing hands
- Draw the silhouette of your kid’s hands on a white paper
- Place a glass bowl with water on the paper
- Spread black pepper on the water
- Have your child put their finger on the water and see how the pepper gets stuck, like dirt
- Put some soap on your kid’s fingertip and have them touch the water again
- This will show them how the soap can fade away dust and germs
3. A fun way to teach them organization
- Put a basketball ring on a wall that’s easy for them to aim at
- Place a laundry basket under the ring
- Have your kids throw their toys through the ring, so they fall into the basket on the floor
