How To Boost Self Esteem And Confident In Fashion
Creating modern and stylish looks is not the only thing in fashion. Confidence is the first key to success in styling perfect outfits.
But if you are not very proud of yourself, and you want to know how to boost self esteem and confidence in fashion here am I.
Today, this will be my main goal to make sure you love how you look, how you style and wear your clothes, etc.
Before I move to the actual steps to boost your self esteem I want to talk about myself a little.
I have received and definitely read all of your email replies and most of you are worried about your age, your body type, the thing that you don’t have money to buy some new things, and so on and so forth.
The thing I am trying to say here is I am not perfect either. In fact no one is perfect because there should not be any standards that we have to follow.
There are requirements for models not for us. And even for models there are plus size models that I love as well.
So, the moral here is that we are all different, we don’t need to look like each other.
If you are my reader you would know I have a pear shape. In case you are unfamiliar with what it means, hips are the largest part of my body.
This is the thing that I am still working on to feel comfortable with it.
But…
Every coin has two sides. Every mountain has a valley. For every strength there is a weakness. Every up has a down.
L.R. Knost
So, if I dislike my hips, I appreciate other parts of my body. As a pear shape, I have a well-defined waist and a small bust, which are my strengths.
I always try to show off my strengths and feel better with my outfit.
But as I said I am also trying to boost my self esteem in fashion, which is not only about hips.
And so, I am here today to take you with me to this road.
Remember the one “We are Women, We are Strong”.
Now let’s start.
1. Identify Your Body Shape and Choose Flattering Outfits
Understanding your body shape is the first step to finding clothes that make you feel confident.
There are several common body shapes like hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle, and inverted triangle.
To figure out your shape, stand in front of a mirror and observe the proportions of your shoulders, waist, and hips.
Once you know your shape, you can choose outfits that highlight your best features. You can find more about finding out your body shape and its characteristics here in my article.
For example, if you have an hourglass shape, wear clothes that accentuate your waist. If you have a pear shape, try A-line skirts and dresses that balance your lower body with your upper body.
Wearing clothes that fit well and complement your shape can make a huge difference in how you feel.
2. Discover and Define Your Personal Style
Here comes my next example.
I was never wearing crop tops. I would say that was just a complex.
This is me, decide for yourself was I complex or was I right when I was too “shy” to wear crop tops?
Let me know in the comments.
And yeah, in case you want to know more about me you can always find me on my socials.
Here are my Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook profiles.
Personal style is all about expressing who you are through your clothes.
Start by looking at different styles and deciding what you like.
Are you into sporty looks, boho vibes, or classic outfits? Create a mood board with pictures of outfits and accessories that catch your eye.
This can help you see patterns in what you like and guide your shopping choices.
Remember, your personal style should make you feel comfortable and confident, so don’t be afraid to mix different styles and create a look that’s uniquely yours.
Here is my article that may help you in building your first capsule wardrobe.
3. Build a Capsule Wardrobe with Essential Pieces
And here we are to the capsule wardrobe again.
A capsule wardrobe is a collection of essential clothing items that you can mix and match to create many outfits.
Start with basics like a good pair of jeans, a white T-shirt, a little black dress, and a versatile jacket.
These pieces should be high quality and should fit you well.
With these staples, you can easily put together stylish outfits without having a closet full of clothes.
Having a capsule wardrobe not only saves you time and money but also makes it easier to feel confident about your outfit choices every day.
And if you are struggling to match your clothes, here is my article you will love to read next.
4. Ensure Your Clothes Fit Well with Tailoring
Even the most stylish outfit can look off if it doesn’t fit well.
That’s where tailoring comes in.
Clothes that fit your body perfectly can make you look and feel amazing.
If you buy something and it’s a little too big or small, don’t be afraid to take it to a tailor. Simple adjustments like hemming pants, taking in a waist, or shortening sleeves can make a big difference.
Wearing well-fitted clothes not only makes you look better but also makes you feel comfortable, which can boost your confidence.
If you are a plus-size woman don’t be afraid to size up. It’s okay to have extra weight and appear bigger than others.
5. Use Accessories to Elevate Your Look
Accessories are like the cherry on top of an outfit.
They can take a simple look and make it stand out.
I have to add it, I am still working on it. I just don’t have much choice for accessories. So, I am trying to make accessorizing more important for me as well.
My advice here would be to try adding a cool necklace, a stylish belt, or a pair of statement earrings to your outfit.
Scarves, hats, and bags can also add personality to what you’re wearing.
The key is to not overdo it – choose a few accessories that complement your outfit rather than overwhelming it.
With the right accessories, you can express your style and feel more confident.

6. Maintain Good Grooming and Self-Care Routines
Fashion and style are not only about fashion and style.
Taking care of yourself goes hand in hand with feeling good about how you look.
This means keeping up with basic hygiene, like showering regularly, brushing your teeth, and taking care of your skin and hair.
Find a skincare and haircare routine that works for you.
When you feel clean and well-groomed, it boosts your confidence and makes any outfit look better.
Plus, self-care routines are a great way to relax and take a break from your busy day.
7. Practice Positive Self-Talk
What you say to yourself matters.
Positive self-talk and affirmations can help you feel more confident about your appearance.
Try starting your day with affirmations like, “I look great today,” or “I feel confident and stylish.” When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts about your appearance, challenge them and replace them with positive ones.
Over time, this practice can improve your self-esteem and how you feel in your clothes.
8. Get Inspiration from Fashion Icons and Influencers
Look at fashion icons and influencers for inspiration.
Celebrities and fashion bloggers often post outfits and style tips on social media.
Find a few whose style you admire and see how they put together their looks.
You don’t have to copy them exactly, but you can take ideas and adapt them to fit your style and body type.
Seeing how others dress confidently can give you new ideas and boost your own fashion confidence.
Pinterest is a great platform where you can create a board with outfits that others are creating. You will have some outfit ideas when you will need some inspiration.
My husband does that. Why don’t you? Lol

9. Consult a Personal Shopper or Stylist
If you’re unsure about what looks good on you, consider consulting a personal shopper or stylist.
These professionals can give you personalized advice based on your body type, personal style, and budget.
They can help you find clothes that fit well and make you feel confident. Y
You don’t have to hire them regularly – even a one-time consultation can give you valuable insights and help you build a wardrobe you love.
And if you are on a budget, following bloggers like me are also enough as well.
By the way, would you be interested in free consulting from me? I don’t yet have this service yet but I can think about it if that’s what will help you.
10. Experiment with Outfits to Find What Works Best
Don’t be afraid to try new things with your wardrobe. Remember my story about crop tops?
If I hadn’t tried wearing a crop top once, I would have never known how much I love wearing them.
Experimenting with different outfits can help you find what makes you feel most (or more) confident.
Mix and match items in your closet to see what combinations you like.
Take photos of outfits you love so you can remember them later.
The more you experiment, the better you’ll understand your style and what works for you.
11. Shop Intentionally and Avoid Impulse Buys
When shopping for clothes, be intentional about your purchases.
Avoid impulse buys that you might regret later.
Before you buy something, ask yourself if it fits your personal style, if it’s comfortable, and if you really need it.
It’s better to have a few pieces you love and wear often than a closet full of clothes you don’t wear. Shopping intentionally helps you build a wardrobe that makes you feel confident every day.
I recommend you use your notes app to create the list of clothes you need before going shopping.
It doesn’t matter, whenever you remember or find out that you are missing something, write it down in your shopping list.
That way, you will not only have confidence in your styling, but you will also be confident while shopping.
12. Stay Updated with Fashion Trends and Tips
Keeping up with fashion trends and tips can help you stay inspired and excited about your wardrobe.
Follow fashion magazines, blogs, and social media accounts to see what’s new and how you can incorporate trends into your personal style.
Remember, you don’t have to follow every trend – just choose the ones that you like and that make you feel good.
Staying informed can keep your style fresh and boost your confidence in your fashion choices.
13. Find Your Color Palette
Knowing which colors look best on you can make a huge difference in how you feel about your outfits.
To find your color palette, pay attention to the colors that complement your skin tone, hair, and eye color.
There are four main color seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each season has its own range of colors that can make you look vibrant and healthy.
For example, if you have a warm skin tone, you might look great in earthy tones like browns, oranges, and yellows. Experiment with different colors to see which ones make you feel confident and look your best.
I will write a new article about it soon. So, don’t worry if you feel confused about it.
I suggest subscribing to my email list to never miss out on any extra information I share.
14. Stay True to Yourself
Fashion is a way to express who you are, so it’s important to stay true to yourself.
Don’t feel pressured to follow every trend or wear something just because it’s popular.
Choose clothes that you love and that make you feel good.
When you dress in a way that feels right for you, it shows in your confidence and the way you carry yourself.
Remember, the best style is the one that reflects your true self.
15. Learn to Love Your Unique Features
Everyone has unique features that make them special.
Remember the example about my waist here.
Learning to love these features can boost your self-esteem and confidence.
Instead of focusing on what you don’t like about yourself, celebrate what makes you unique.
Maybe you have beautiful eyes, a great smile, a high neck, a pretty face, beautiful lips, long legs, etc.
Choose clothes and accessories that highlight these features and make you feel proud of who you are.
Loving your unique features is a key part of feeling confident in your fashion choices.
16. Handle Fashion Mistakes with Grace
Everyone makes fashion mistakes, and that’s okay.
The important thing is to handle them with grace and learn from them.
If you wear something that doesn’t quite work, don’t be too hard on yourself.
Think about why it didn’t work and use that knowledge to make better choices in the future.
Fashion is all about experimenting and finding what works for you.
Handling mistakes with a positive attitude can help you grow and improve your style.
17. Create Seasonal Wardrobe Updates
Updating your wardrobe with the seasons can keep your style fresh and exciting.
As the weather changes, swap out your clothes for items that are appropriate for the season.
This can mean adding layers in the winter, choosing lighter fabrics in the summer, or incorporating seasonal colors and patterns.
Seasonal updates can help you stay comfortable and stylish all year round.
18. Balance Practicality and Aesthetics
When choosing clothes, it’s important to balance practicality and aesthetics.
You want to look good, but you also need to be comfortable and able to move freely.
Think about the activities you’ll be doing and choose outfits that are appropriate. For example, if you have a busy day of walking, choose stylish yet comfortable shoes.
Balancing practicality and aesthetics can help you feel confident and comfortable in any situation.
19. Understanding Fabric and Material Choices
The fabrics and materials you choose can affect how your clothes look and feel.
Understanding different fabrics can help you make better fashion choices.
For example, natural fabrics like cotton, wool, and silk are breathable and comfortable, while synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon can be more durable and wrinkle-resistant.
Knowing the pros and cons of different materials can help you choose clothes that fit your needs and make you feel good.
20. Organize and Declutter Your Wardrobe
An organized wardrobe can make it easier to find clothes you love and feel confident in.
Take time to declutter your closet, getting rid of items that no longer fit or that you don’t wear.
Organize your clothes by type, color, or season, so you can easily see what you have.
A clean, organized wardrobe can save you time and help you make better outfit choices.
Plus, it can make you feel more in control and confident in your fashion.
In case you need some help with organizing your wardrobe, check out my previous article here.
That’s it for today.
I hope you will follow the tips I shared today and those will help you boost your self esteem and confidence in fashion.
Remember the thing – happy women look confident. So, be happy and be confident.
Have a nice day!
