Couple Preparing For Wedding Rescues Injured Pup And Welcomes Him As A Family Member
When one happy bride couldn’t wait for her big day, she had no idea that one of her guests would be a furry face who would cheer her on all night.
Logan and Alyssa were getting ready for their wedding while getting coffee after going to the gym. While they were there, Logan saw a hurt stray dog trying to cross a very busy street.
They knew they had to do something to help this poor guy because he was in great danger.
Rescue Mission
The couple from Texas who were about to get married thought that the dog had been hit because he was limping and would probably be very scared. They were right, too.
It took all of its strength to run away as soon as they got close to the puppy. Luckily, they were able to catch him in the back of a shopping center and finally get him to trust them.
I then got down on his level, sat down on the ground, and tried to get him to come over to me. After a while, he finally limped over to me and fell asleep on my lap, Alyssa told Newsweek.
They took the puppy to the vet right away, hoping that he had a tag and a family that missed him very much. But that wasn’t the case.
“We hoped so badly that he had a home or family that loved him and lost them!” “He wasn’t neutered, had no microchip, and didn’t have a collar on,” Alyssa said.
In Search Of A Home
They started sharing pictures of the dog, who they named Campbell, on social media in the hopes that someone would know him and bring him back home.
“Three or four days before we found him, people on the Next Door app told us they had seen him running around the intersection and in parking lots.” We think the most likely reason is that he was dumped where we found him, which is a busy place, she said.
Campbell couldn’t wait for someone to come along and take him, though, because he had to have surgery right away for a broken leg.
Alyssa said, “This complex fracture was already weakening his joint structure, and the vet warned us that if this wasn’t fixed surgically very soon, the joint would fall apart completely.”
Alyssa and Logan needed help because the surgery was very hard and cost a lot of money. Lucky for them, Cody’s Friends Rescue, a Texas-based charity rescue, stepped in to help.
They helped pay for some of the costs and also set up a GoFundMe page. They were able to raise enough money through this fundraiser site to pay the whole $8,000 bill.
And since Alyssa and Logan met because they both loved animals, it wasn’t hard for them to take care of this cute guy.
Within that first week, we felt so close to him. Alyssa said, “It was like the dream dog we had always talked about had just popped up in our laps.”
But they had to leave Campbell with Alyssa’s parents because they had to plan a wedding and a honeymoon. This cute rescue dog, on the other hand, was always on their thoughts and in their hearts.
New Life
Thanks to a metal plate that was put on the joint, this amazing boy’s leg is fully healed now. Campbell doesn’t let the fact that he can’t bend his leg like other dogs do get in the way of his happiness.
The humans who lived with Alyssa and Logan noticed that the puppy was already trained to go to the bathroom outside and knew some basic orders. This meant that he was likely already part of a family.
There are also signs that Campbell is very scared of very specific things. He immediately cowers in fear when I hold a shoe in my hand. “He’s also always very careful and worried that he might break something in our house,” she said.
Campbell is still living his best life, though. His dog parents are very pleased with how happy he is and how much he enjoys life and spending time with his humans and other dogs.
When we found Campbell, it shattered all of our plans and changed our lives forever. But he’s also the best thing that has ever happened to us. “We are so thankful that he found us,” Alyssa said.
